about
A tribute to all the things not covered by history.
lyrics
Back when I once asked where the lost things go,
I should’ve never asked that question again.
They gave me real stupid looks and said “I don’t know,”
Then shut me in and prayed me to bed, amen!
I admit I must have sounded just a bit slow,
At the way they never answered me.
It’s such a vague inquiry, where the lost things go,
Leads us to bolted doors without a key.
Back when I once asked where the lost things go,
They’re fixing something else entirely.
They gave me real livid looks and said “I don’t know,”
Since then they’d never take me seriously!
Of the whole wide world of questions to know,
I get the hardest I could ever conceive.
It’s such a vague inquiry, where the lost things go,
Leads us to clouded scopes we can’t perceive.
On cloud nine “where the lost things go,”
A man would pitch to me in secrecy.
In a shake of the head I said “I don’t know,”
From that he ushered me so curiously.
And from that moment on we’d travel so low,
To places so high; from the waterfall,
To the end of rainbow “where the lost things go,”
Would sing through beaming days and nightfall.
Oh, to me he would show,
What I can’t know!
Where the saints come marching in,
To be their Covenants and Noah’s boat?
And oh where is the Holy Grail,
May it lie in the Money hole?
Where dead men go,
I may never know.
To what can he show?
To what can he know?
At the Rose “where the lost things go,”
Would say him to and fro again and again.
Yet after all of this I had to say “I just don’t know,”
From that I woke up and my dream did end.
Oh what torture be worse than this,
To suffer teasing dreams from day after day.
Never stopped asking “where the lost things go,”
I swear to this day I can hear him say:
Follow me,
And let me show,
All to see,
And all to know!
I still ask where the lost things go,
I ask myself this every day in and out.
I’m not afraid to say that “I just don’t know,”
All-knowing prowess is not what it’s about.
So I take upon this timely flow,
A range of questions just for me to ponder.
It’s such a vague inquiry, where the lost things go,
If solved will lead us to a truth yonder.
